I adore the thought of Christmas wedding ideas. Long gone are the days of silver tinsel and cheap party crackers, now there's a wealth of bespoke, handmade items that can make any Christmas wedding truly memorable.
For some though, it's hard to stand out from all those Christmas decorations. So as a bride getting married during the festive season, how can you incorporate Christmas wedding ideas without going overboard and still being remembered?
There are hundreds of ways to maximise the festive theme in your wedding. Take, for example, the traditional colours of Christmas: red and green. Red is a great colour to include in your wedding theme. Green, I'm not so keen on and it's slightly less "weddingy", although not unheard of.
With Christmas wedding ideas for your dress, use accents of rich reds in your buttons, trims, sashes or underskirts. A small bit of piping, ruby earrings or a red rose headdress will complement your dress delightfully. A little search on Etsy.com bought up hundreds of bespoke Christmas wedding ideas for accessories and decorations.
With flower ideas, it's much easier to be festive by using seasonal blooms and greenery. Poinsettias are a typical Christmas flowering plant, and mainly they're red, but they do come in other colours too including white, cream and pink. Holly, ivy, berries, feathers, pine cones and yew are all seasonal and when combined with dried fruit such as oranges (yes, I know it sounds wierd) and tied up with cinnamon, you can create a wonderful scented room.
Couple these with chocolate coated gingerbread that can hung from ribbons around the reception and you'll have a delicious set of Christmas wedding reception decorations too.
Last year, whilst having a wintry coffee in a retro Airstream trailer converted into our local cafe, I noticed that they'd decorated the place with these cute little decorations and they looked great. Simple and effective (and really quite cheap for saying the gingerbread was from Lidl - one of their Christmas specials).
Have you considered going kitsch and having a Santa Claus theme? Lights, lights and more lights. Little lights, big lights and centrepiece lights, all in Santa shapes could be perfect for any Christmas crazed couple. Christmas is a big thing to some, it must be otherwise we wouldn't have those all-year-round Christmas shops. To top it all off a snow machine is a must.
Following Christmas wedding decoration ideas makes your wedding favours easy as well. There are so many little gifts around that are perfectly suitable for guests. I love the idea of a mini stocking filled with little gifts, a miniature Christmas pudding or even a mini snow globe with a Santa bride and groom to match that Santa theme?
