When this destination wedding landed in my inbox, I couldn't help but be inspired by the glamorous location of Sorrento, Italy. Carmela and Valerio are a gorgeous couple, who have been captured perfectly by the wonderful eye of Lyndsey Goddard.
Both of Italian parents, they met some time ago at school in London. When it came to getting married, going home to Sorrento was an obvious choice. Great food, stunning views and of course, the big, Italian family wedding was a must.
Carmela wanted a romantic wedding with a theme of blue. The kind of rich, sky blue you see everywhere in the Mediterranean. For her, she bought this colour in through her accessories, flowers and the wedding parties accessories. I couldn't help but notice the blue tones throughout the wedding shots, which I thought looked lovely.
Carmela designed her wedding dress as well (budding dress designer?) and her friend made it up for her. Her beautiful blue hair comb and the knot bracelet were made by her friend Idoia Uribarri. Valerio wore a Yves Saint Laurent suit, which he bought in Italy.
For her table decorations, Carmela placed love poems on each table and her favours were little teapots with teabags and sugar, which hinted back to their home in England. Her flowers were marguerites which were combined with small blue flowers.
Her food was typically Italian with a buffet of Italian fish, meat and cheese followed by a pasta course and grilled fish. Finally they served up lots of different cakes for dessert. Dinner was followed by a folk band and a jazz band.
Carmela's wedding was very relaxed, for her, it very much represented the way they are. She said: 'We don't like luxury things and we don't like to show off, what we wanted from the day was people having fun'.
I think with her destination wedding, Carmela and Valerio managed that. Just check out their stunning photos...
