Wedding reception punch recipes are a plenty, but I've put together the five best for you to choose from. Punch is a fantastic beverage to serve at your wedding, or in fact any occasion.
Not only does it taste great, you can also use it as a decorative feature at your reception. Something about punch is a little bit fun. It's very social, and cheaper to put together when compared with other alcoholic drinks.
1L cranberry juice
1L pink lemonade
750 ml white wine
750 ml champagne
lemon for garnish
150g fresh mint
Combine first 4 ingrients in a large punch bowl. Garnish with mint and lemon slices.
If you love champagne, you're going to love this recipe, it's perfect for a summer's day and very refreshing. Without a doubt, it's my pick of these wedding reception punch recipes.
1L grape juice
1L pineapple juice
Combine first 4 ingredients in a punch bowl with ice. Cut the oranges and limes into thin slices and place on the top of the bowl as garnish.
This is more in line with the traditional fruit punch recipes we are all used to at a reception, but with a pineapple kick. I've always loved pineapple and this is a great recipe! You can add more vodka if you like, or leave it out completely.
For a different twist you could even make this with a dark spirit like bourbon or rum.
1L orange juice
300ml lemon juice
half a cup of sugar
Combine first 3 ingrients. Slowly mix in the sugar, allowing it to dissolve. Best served on ice.
This is another of my favourite wedding reception punch recipes for a hot afternoon, or just when you would like something different. I have used this recipe to make cocktails for friends, but it works just as well as a punch too. It is quite strong and not for the faint-hearted!
1.2L fruit cocktail drink
900ml apple juice
1.2L sweet cider
6 strawberries sliced
1 apple thinly sliced
Combine all the liquid ingredients in a punch bowl, with ice. Garnish with strawberries and apples.
Sometimes the original really is the best! This traditional drink will be a hit at your wedding, or really any occasion. This is probably the most commonly used of the wedding reception punch recipes.
2L cranberry juice
1L orange juice
250ml lemon juice
250ml ginger ale
Combine all liquid ingredients over ice in a punch bowl. Slice the fruit and use as a garnish.
If you're having children at your reception, you probably don't want to leave a big bowl of alcoholic punch within their reach. Virgin punch is a great alternative. You can use different fruits as a garnish if your like, or even add chunks of pineapple, peaches, or other tropical fruits into the mix.
You don't need to use wedding punch recipes if it isn't your thing, there are plenty of other fun beverage recipes you can serve your guests. Cocktails are always going to be well received. You could have a specialist bartender on staff to create amazing drink recipes all night. Alternatively, you could offer two different choices, a bride and groom house cocktail if you like.
For something a bit easier to manage, you might like to serve up Pimms, which will go down just as well. If you're staying away from alcohol, and are looking for child friendly drinks, you might consider elderflower cordial. Sweet and refreshing, it's a perfect choice for a wedding reception.
